Here's The Map

In my last post I said something about getting where your going. I think I'll keep this short and sweet. Heaven, most people that I've talked to want to go there. Problem is few people know how to get there. So here's the map. Jesus said  "I am the way, the truth, and the life, no one comes to the Father but by me."  There you have it. Jesus is the way to heaven. All you need to do if you want to go there is get the map and follow directions.

A Day In The Life

A day in the life of a truck driver. Not one of my typical days. Typically, I would spend most of my day driving. That's my job. Or I might spend too much time at loading docks, and then drive half the night. Shh don't tell the D.O.T. But not today, or I should say yesterday, it's after midnight. I did drive a little, far enough to get to my next fuel stop. Then I hung out at a truck stop for the rest of the day. I'd rather be driving! Except that I got to pay some attention to my puppy today. Her picture graces this blog. And I chatted with a friend online for awhile. I enjoyed both activities very much. And now, since I have all my driving time available, I think I'll go for a midnight ride. Make it another typical day in the life of a truck driver. And remember, if you want to get where your going, follow the directions, or you will wind up someplace you don't want to be. More on that later. May the good Lord guide you until then.

Freedom

Memorial Day, first one since my Dad died. He was in the Navy during the Korean conflict so it was a military funeral. I really have a hard time with military funerals, they seem to be more sad than civilian funerals some how. When taps is played I always have a meltdown right then and there. At any rate I am grateful to all who have served or are serving in our armed forces. Freedom is not free, I know it comes with a terrible price.

Easy Does It

I was signed up on one of those social networking sites for a few days. It was fun for awhile until......
some lady started to flirt with me a little too aggressively. Thought I had made it clear that I was not
looking for any serious relationship. I joined the site cuz I thought it would be fun to get to know people
from around the world and what its like in their neck of the woods. So a word of advice to all you ladies
out there, easy does it, less is more. It just seems a little desperate when you come on strong.

The Sky Is Falling

Another prediction that the world will end on a specific date. I think the big event is set to occur on May 21. Come on back on the 22nd of May to have a good laugh with me. God says clearly in the Bible that there will be an end to this world. He does not say when. In fact He specifically says that we don't need to know when the end will be. And that's just how God rolls. He tells us what we need to know, nothing more and nothing less. So we know Jesus is coming back. And we need to be ready to meet Him when He does.

When Driving, Stay On Task

This is for all you folks out there that think your a good driver. If you are in the habit of tailgating, you are not a good driver. If you exceed the speed limit to the point of recklessness, say 10 mph. over the posted speed limit, you are not a good driver. If you fly up the inside lane and cross 2 or 3 lanes so you can make your exit, you are not a good driver. If you travel slow in the fast lane, you are not a good driver. If you run with the pack in the left lane, you are not a good driver. If you fail to obey yeild signs, even those on entrance ramps to the interstate, you are not a good driver. If you cut in front of another vehicle, and then slow down to get off the highway, you are not a good driver. If you talk, text, or surf the web on your cell phone while you are driving, you are not a good driver. When driving, stay on task, the life you save may be your own.

I just started reading Steven Tyler's biography, Does the noise in my head bother you. Very enjoyable read so far. He writes well and I find myself being drawn into the book. I hope the rest of it is as good as the first couple of chapters.

oh brother where art thou

I have a friend who refers to me as his brother from another mother. One Sunday while he was out to dinner with his wife he got up and left. And we haven't seen him since. He did call his mother some time later to let her know he was OK. He does not have his phone with him so I can't reach him that way. I have sent him a couple emails, but no reply. I really want to talk to him. Maybe I can help him sort things out. Time will tell.

One Handsome Lad

About my uh, picture. I decided to put a picture of my dog Trixie up instead of a picture of me. BTW she is a very good puppy. You see, or actually you don't see that I am extremely good looking. In fact I am so good looking that I dare not put my picture up. I wouldn't get any rest for all the women bothering me for a date. Just the other day I had a cashier offer me her life savings if I would marry her. Of course I declined. So you see I am only sparing all you ladies a LOT of heartache. LOL if you believe all this, I have some swampland in Arizona for sale. :D

Reading is Fun-damental

I recently purchased a nook color. It's one awesome device. I'm still in the process of learning about everything I can do with it. I love to read. It is relaxing to me and I can learn how to do anything I want to.
I started reading on my own when I was about 7, if I remember correctly. When I read I like to try and envision the scene or people I'm reading about. Much more enjoyable than TV in my opinion.

A Favorite Holiday

April 1st, aka April Fools Day. It's about a week or so into spring and the weather here in Minnesota is starting to warm up nicely. I saw my first robin this morning, returned for the summer. And I look forward to summer activities, bike riding, shooting hoops, and grilling food. But the weather is not my reason for my affection for this day, and the promise of future outdoor fun isn't either. I like this day because of it's title, April Fools Day. It reminds me of the Bible verse that says, " A fool in his heart says there is no God." Although I never identified myself as an atheist, I did live as though God does not exist. I did what I wanted, where I wanted, when I wanted. I lived for me. The thing about pride is the letter i is right in the middle of it. No thought for others, of God, or the afterlife. If I wanted to do something wrong, I didn't consider whether it was right or wrong. My only concern was whether or not I could get away with it. I lived like a fool. Thank God that has changed. Jesus changed my heart, my innermost being, so now I am free from the results of doing wrong, both in this life and the next. Doing wrong is sin according to the Bible. And we all will be held accountable for our sins. That is unless we repent, turn from our sins, apologise to God for sinning, and put our trust in Jesus for our forgiveness and salvation. That's the good news, Jesus came to earth, lived as a sinless man, and willingly died on a cross so we can be forgiven and granted eternal life. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. So don't live like fool, receive the gift that God so graciously offers, and enter into life eternal.

Did you hear it? Spring has sprung.

When I was a kid my brothers and I enjoyed flying kites in the spring. Sort of the official activity to usher in warmer weather, Sometimes we had kites that Mom purchased at the store. And sometimes we made our own kites, This was back in the day when you had to put a tail on the kite so it would be easier to control in flight. Strips of cloth worked best for a tail, One long strip tied to the bottom of the kite with short strips tied  crossways to the long one. The length and weight of the cloth tail was crucial to how well a kite would fly.
So from the bottom of my heart I say, GO FLY A KITE. It's fun, it's good exercise. And it might bring back some good memories as it does for me.

How much is too much?

I have noticed that there seems to be a lot of time spent on computers doing things unrelated to a job. Do people still work for a living?
